Math

“The mathematical mind is built of exactitude and reflects a natural mathematical tendency in the young child towards precision, classification, and measurement."

Early Math activities help children learn concretely and understand number concepts.  These exercises serve as foundation of basic mathematical principles, which will then prepare them for abstract reasoning and the development of problem solving skills.  Through the material of the Golden Beads, the children will learn the difference between the unit, tens, hundreds, and thousands.  The remarkable difference between placing a bead and a cube of 1000 beads clearly indicates to the children the concept of unit and thousands or other categories.  The operations are also introduced to the children first with concrete materials, then gradually moving into more abstract concepts.
