Principal's Message

“Whoever touches the life of a child, touches the most sensitive part of a whole which has roots in the most distant past and climbs toward the infinite future.”  Dr. Maria Montessori"

The purpose of opening Monarch Montessori is to provide an enriched environment for children to learn, an environment for parents to build a Montessori community, as well as an opportunity for Montessori teachers to practice and refine their skills. Grace believes that the Montessori method has proven to be useful and insightful when guiding the development of children. The focus of social and emotional development in the Montessori pedagogy is the key foundation for learning in young children. With a calm mind and peaceful environment, the children are invited to acquire skills and learn lessons that will assist them in becoming social members in our society. One of the key elements in the practice is to help children embrace their environment during their time and their century. The children are encouraged to be creative and solve problems on their own as well as with each other.

Grace has had the opportunity to be involved in the Montessori field for twenty years. She has taken on different roles and titles during this time, and each has taught her more about this method of education. As a Montessori teacher, she is privileged to experience the milestones in children’s early development. These experiences have contributed to her success as an academic director, a Montessori trainer, and a leader in Montessori community in Canada and China.

Montessori Guide

ALEMITU (ALLY) HILL

Alemitu (Ally) Hill is a passionate educator who has been working with children professionally for the past 18 years. She pursued the education field and obtained an associate degree in early childhood education in 2013 and worked and taught preschool and pre-K settings at different institutions in the USA. She moved to Vancouver, BC from Seattle, WA and received the AMI primary certificate in 2016.

Education was very important in her family, and she knew from an early age that she wanted to be an educator. She has a natural ability to connect with children. Ally believes in Montessori’s philosophy and pedagogy approach to education for young children. Creating an environment for children that is enriching, which encourages curiosity, exploration and freedom of movement is critical towards their development. The prepared environment should lead towards bringing out each child’s innate potential. She is excited and looking forward to working at Monarch Montessori School with all the amazing teachers, children, and parents.

WAI YAN (ALANAS) TSANG

Alanas is originally from the vibrant city of Hong Kong and moved to Canada in 2021. With a Bachelor of Education degree, she worked as an elementary school teacher for five years. She is also a mother, and parenthood has been a deeply rewarding experience that brings her daily joy and gratitude.

Raising a child in today’s fast-changing world has deepened her appreciation for the Montessori philosophy, especially the principle of following the child. She believes that when we meet a child’s needs with care and intention—offering tools rather than just answers—we empower them for a lifetime. Alanas is grateful for the opportunity to become a Montessori guide, hoping to support not only her own child’s development but also to nurture capable, confident, and independent learners.
